Poker Run Rules and Regulations

Saturday June 25^th  was another cloudy day with the threat of rain. Again the rain held off as we had a lazy start to the Ottawa River Run. With guests from the military in many of the boats we had an awesome run from Petawawa to Swisha and back to Pembroke for lunch at Joey’s Seafood Restaurant. We changed up who was riding in the boats to give our guests an opportunity to experience a different ride after lunch. We headed back up the river and back into Petawawa.  It was social time at the marina before heading out to dinner at Danny’s Restaurant. Steak and Lobster dinner followed by awards and live auction. Peter Roberts stepped in to MC the event.

Awards went to: Roger Eagleson for Best Hand, 2^nd Place Matt Dean, 3^rd Place Wade Seymour, Hard Luck Ken Jensen and Best of Show to Ed Poirier.

The live auction had many unusual items. The Soldiers donated some of their gear that had special meaning from their tour in Afghanistan, as well as some surprise items courtesy of Ed Poirier. The auction was very lively and brought $14,500 for the charity Never Quit. Never Quit is a non-profit organization that helps with re-integrating wounded Soldiers and gives back to a Charity of choice in the name of the soldier assisted.
