I think that the time has come to seriously address the noise abatement issue. If we are going to be allowed to continue hosting our events in the communities that we do so we need to become proactive in addressing and resolving this issue and not just sit back and have activists and law makers tell us where we can and cannot boat.


It is of my opinion that we should become part of the solution and not part of the problem as it relates to the noise issue. The time has come to not just recommend that our members be compliant but rather make it a requirement that their vessels are legal and compliant in respect to noise abatement laws and regulations.


I think that this is a serious issue that we need to address collectively as the membership of the club and come up with a viable solution into something positive that will benefit us all.


When there are activists saying that performance boats should not be allowed on the inland lakes and that they are beginning to lobby with legislators against performance boats this concerns me deeply.


The real issue is not the performance boats but rather the noise levels that they create. This is a solvable issue. With the technology available and products that are readily available on the market we can make each and every one of our boats meet or exceed acceptable noise level requirements.


 

I feel that if we are going to hold true to our mandate of the club to promote safe and responsible performance boating, then this is an issue we need to address and resolve.
